How long do TPMS sensors last?+

TPMS sensor batteries typically last 5 to 10 years or 50,000 to 100,000 miles. Since the battery is sealed inside the sensor and cannot be replaced separately, the entire sensor must be replaced when the battery dies. If your vehicle is approaching the 7-year mark and hasn't had sensors replaced, it's worth having them tested.

Why does my TPMS light come on when it gets cold?+

Air contracts when it cools, so tire pressure drops as temperatures fall — roughly 1 PSI for every 10°F drop. If your tires are already near the low-pressure threshold, a cold morning can push them just below the trigger point for the TPMS warning. If the light comes on and goes off as the tires warm up during driving, your pressures are borderline and should be adjusted. If the light stays on regardless of temperature, a sensor may have failed.

Do I need to replace all four TPMS sensors at once?+

Not necessarily. If only one sensor has failed, we can replace just that one. However, if your sensors are all original and more than 7-8 years old, the remaining sensors are likely approaching the end of their battery life too. Many customers choose to replace all four at once — especially during a tire purchase — to avoid coming back for individual replacements over the next year or two.
